Msakni Youssef struck a beautiful stoppage time curling effort to see Tunisia come out tops in the Group D North African Derby of the African Cup of Nations. Tunisia won the match 1-0 to start positively their campaign for the 2013 crown.

Both teams grabbed each other’s neck in the match that saw minimal chances at goal but much activity in the middle of the pack.

Algeria’s Silimani Islam struck the woodwork with a header on the half hour mark in what was the closest chance for the North Africans in the first period.

The Carthage Eagles of Tunisia now join Ivory Coast at the top of Group D and have a high chance of qualifying to the Quarters if they win their next match.
