Rwanda praised for upright Kagame Cup organization
THE CECAFA secretariat has given a ‘thumbs up’ to Rwanda for organizing a successful 2014 CecafaKagame Cup tournament which has reached the semi-final stage.
Musonye said on Thursday that, “I want to thank the Ferwafa team and the country of Rwanda for good organization. We have a very good organization, flawless; everything has run according to program,”
“Secondly, I want to commend our teams for giving us good quality football since we began the group stage and we have cleared the quarter finals with a good competition,”
“This tournament ranks as one of the best tournament we have had in recent years. We are very satisfied and in terms of improvement in the standards of football in our region, I believe that we are in the right path but I want still to emphasize the importance of youth football,”
He further added that, “You have seen that as much we try to improve football standards here, our youth program must be enhanced in our region so that we continue generating more young players to feed the senior teams,”
“If we don’t do that we will not have good teams in the future but over and above, am satisfied with the performance of all our 14 teams that took part in the group stage and the four who are going to contest in the semi-finals and eventually the final am sure we will have a good final,”
“The semi-final pairing is very goodand two finalists will provide the people of CECAFA with an exciting Cup final on Sunday. Am so confident about it and I want to thank our Patron for the support he has given us,”
The semi-final will be played on Friday with Sudan League Champions El Merriekh and KCCA FC (Uganda) facing-off in the second semi-final clash while Rwandan sides APR Fc and Police clash in the first game of the day.
The regional competition will climax on Sunday with the winner taking home US$30,000, while the runner-up nags US$20,000. The third placed team will win a cash prize of US$10,000.
