Rayon Sports eager to retain league title
AFTER recruiting heavily for the 2013/14 Turbo National Football League, head coach Didier Gomes Da Rosa believes that the race for the league title will be a tight contest but is backing his “strong” squad to hit the tape ahead of other contenders.
Speaking to media mid this week, Gomes lauded the club’s move in signing two key strikers Meddie Kagere and Ugandan Frasson Jakesh this week.
“We want to have a strong squad effective for the upcoming season. It’s good that we have signed two key strikers, I don’t need any other striker, I am satisfied with potential of the current squad,”
“I am building a team with good goalkeeping, defense, lethal midfield and sharp striking force. The team has been boasted in all departments and we are shifting focus this weekend to the league race,”
“The league is very competitive and we are in this competition to win .We are going to give our best and hope that Rayon Sports becomes a formidable side to reckon in the upcoming season,”
“Winning the Rwanda Media Football tourney was a blue print that we are ready to defend the league title,” added the French born tactician.
After guiding the blues to their first silverware in a space of seven years, Gomes has revived the Nyanza-based side with major signing including goalie Jean Luc Ndayishimiye, defenders Arafat Serugendo, Claude Rwaka and Moses Kanamugire, midfielders Jean Paul Havugarurema, Robert Ndatimana, Djihad Bizimana and Hussien Sibomana and striking pair of Kagere and Jakesh.
Besides the Turbo league and Peace Cup, Rayon sports will also represent Rwanda in next year’s Orange Champions League as well as the 2014 Cecafa Kagame Cup.
