Mckenzie saddened by Burundi snub
RAYON SPORT’S impressive right back Karim Nizigiyimana Mckenzie was left an unhappy person after Burundian coach Rainer Wilfried snubbed him in the national team which will face Rwanda in a Fifa international match due to be held at Prince Louis Rwagasore stadium on March 5.
Speaking to the media on Wednesday, Mckenzie said, “I was shocked and saddened not be included in the Burundian team for the friendly match against Rwanda,”
“I know I have had good performances this season with my club Rayon Sports and I believe am in good shape. So to be snubbed doesn’t please me at all,”
“Anyway, I have to put this dissapointment behind the memory of my brain and concentrate on my work. I have to work harder and maybe I will be summoned in the upcoming Afcon qualifiers,” added Rayon Sport’s pivotal defender.
Reigning top scorer Cedric Amissi is the only Rwandan-based player summoned by Coach Wilfried. Other talented Turbo King league players ignored include Rayon Sports skipper Fuadi Ndayisenga, Ally Musa from SC Kiyovu and Claude Nahimana from Mukura.
The friendly match will help both nations to prepare for the preliminary round of the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
Burundi ranked 124 on Fifa rankings face 134th ranked Rwanda as both nations seek to use the game to prepare for the preliminary round of the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
