SC Villa gears up for RPF anniversary tourney
Ugandan league champions SC Villa is among regional clubs that will spice up the 25th RPF anniversary football championship scheduled to kick off on December 15 at Stade de Kigali.
SC Villa’s technical chairman Sam Tamale Kapeera said on Thursday that his team is ready to compete in the tournament.
“We are very ready for the tournament and we will be representing Uganda. RPF and its leaders are very attached to the club,”
“The late Fred Rwigema used to sit on our bench when we used to play while President Paul Kagame was a club’s diehard and a real sportsman. His desire for sports encouraged many to play football,” added Kapeera.
The 25th RPF anniversary football tournament starts on December 15 with giants APR locking horns with Burundi’s Vital’O at Stade de Kigali.
On December 16, Rayon Sports will face SC Villa on the same venue. The third position play-off and the final match will be played on December 18.
Established in 1987, the party has succeeded in implementing an all-inclusive doctrine and has largely been shaped by a struggle of building the unity of Rwandans, restoring democratic values and putting the country on a path of social economic transformation.
The 25th RPF anniversary will be marked under the theme: Governance, prosperity and dignity for our people.
RPF was established out of a desire to satisfy collective interests that are shared by the citizens. Its birth came as a call to end injustices and since its establishment, the RPF has ensured that all its operations are within the confines of the law.
