Rwanda : SC Kiyovu reclaims top position
The Green baggies returned back at the summit of the Primus National Football league table following a win away to Etincelles at Umuganda stadium on Saturday.
SC Kiyovu snatched a late 1-0 win courtesy of Faustin Habyarimana’s header to send the Nyamirambo based team on top of the table with 22 points.
The move to the top of the table was made possible after AS Kigali slipped at home against La Jeunesse with a 0-1 loss. AS Kigali are now second on the table with 21 points.
A late Yusuf Habimana goal downed AS Kigali to help La Jeunesse rise to third spot with 21 points.
Reigning champions APR recorded a 2-0 win over youthful side Isonga at Amahoro stadium with former Isonga skipper Emery Bayisenge haunting his old team-mates from the spot kick before APR Academy product Maxime Sekamana grabbed the second.
The army side moved to fourth position with 20 points and back in the hunt for a record-extending 14th league title after a slow start.
Rayon Sport lis evel with fourth-placed Police FC, who had their match against Espoir cancelled following a road accident that claimed the lives of four police officers on Friday.
The blues beat AS Muhanga 3-1 to move to 19 points. AS Muhanga was the first to score through Crispin, but Burundian Fuadi Ndayisenga secured the lead with a double before skipper Aphrodis ‘Kanombe’ Hategekimana snatched the third goal.
After eleven matches Etincelles still remain at the bottom of the table with juts 5 points, and the favourite for the drop.
