Kiyovu maintain grip at the top
SC Kiyovu has continued to lead the Primus league standings following a decisive 2-1 win over Muhanga on wednesday at Mumena stadium.
The old giants snatched the win through veteran striker Bokota Kamana Labama who struck on 67th minute winner to cancel out Eric Yirirwahandi’s equaliser twenty minutes earlier.
Upcoming player Muhadjili Hakizimana scored the other goal from a spot kick after skipper Eric Serugaba was brought down in the fortieth minute to keep Jean Baptist Kayiranga’s side at the summit of the league log with twenty five points from 13 games.
AS Kigali, who are second-placed beat Marines 2-0 in Rubavu to keep pressure on Kiyovu. Laudit Mavugo and Jimmy Mbaraga were on target for this season’s surprise package.
League record winners APR leapfrogged into the third position with a 2-0 win over La Jeunesse. Police FC and Rayon Sport complete the top five positions.
Police, with a game in hand, beat Amagaju 3-0 while Rayon came from behind to beat Musanze 3-2. Police snatched the victory through goals which were scored by Kwizera Ernest, Jack Tuyisenge and Peter Kagabo who also took his goal tally to six goals scored since the season started in September last year.
The record 13-time league winners APR beat La Jeunesse 2-0 at Stade de Kigali to go third with 23 points on the standings.
Elsewhere, Espoir forced Mukura to a goalless draw at Kamena grounds while Isonga suffered a surprising 1-2 defeat to visitors Etincelles at Amahoro stadium.
This was Etincelles second victory of the season in twelve matches played so far but it never changed their status at the bottom of the table where they remain tied on eight points with AS Muhanga, Marines and Isonga FC football clubs respectively.
The final day of the 2012/13 season’s first leg ends on Saturday La Jeunesse hosting Marines at Mumena stadium; APR will travel to Western Province to book a date against Etincelles; Muhanga will host Isonga at Muhanga stadium; SC Kiyovu will face a tricky test against Musanze in Musanze; Rayon Sport will travel to Espoir in Rusizi; Mukura will playa way to Amagaju in Nyamabage while AS Kigali will host Police in a daunting task at Stade de Kigali.
