Rwandan clubs APR and Police face a huge mountain to climb in the second leg of the preliminary round of CAF Champions league and Confederation Cup over the weekend.

APR failed to capitalise on home advantage losing 1-2 to visitors Vital’O in a Champions League clash at Amahoro stadium on Saturday while Police lost to Burundian side LLB academic in Bujumbura.

Defender Leopold Nkurikiye scored the opening for the lively visitors on the 27th minute when he dribbled past full back Michel Rusheshangoga before beating goalkeeper Jean Luc Ndayishimiye with a low drive shot.

Striker Amiss Tambwe added the second on 64th minute after benefitting from a defensive error to make it 2-0, leaving the hosts with a whole lot to do.

Second half substitute Maxime Sekamana, who came in to replace defender Rusheshangoga, scored  the consolation goal for APR on 67th minute, calmly tapping in Jean Claude Iranzi’s cross to beat Justin Ndikumana in goal for the visitors.

In Bujumbura, Claude Ndarusanze beat off a defensive error to give his club a 1-0 slight advantage over the Rwandan counterparts.

The second leg of the match will be played on March 2nd. Should the match go to a barren draw, APR will be knocked out. But if they win in the second leg by a 2-goal margin, they will advance to the first round.

Police also needs a win in Kigali to be assured qualification to the next round.
