Confident Junior Wasps jet out to Nice
THE national under-20 team departs left for Nice, France on Tuesday where they will launch a final build-up ahead of the forthcoming Francophone Games, scheduled for September 6–15.
Head Coach Richard Tardy, “The team’s mission is to snatch a collective target which is to play good football and be able to qualify for the semi final though it will be easy,”
“We will face Congo Brazzaville and Canada who were in Mexico during the 2011 World U-17 Cup finals while France were runner-ups in the European championship but I am confident, this team will stage a good show,” added Tardy.
They will be based at Antibe Centre Sportive where they will spend 14 days and play three build-up matches against Glasse (August 24) and Rocheville (August 27) and Morocco national team on September 2.
Tardy’s team departed with 18 players while the only two professional players ; Belgium-based defender Jean Marie Rusingizandekwe [Marines] and Bon Fils Kabanda [Nancy-France], set to link up with the team in Nice
The Junior Wasps will be making her debut in the football competition in Group D along with the hosts France, Congo Brazzaville and Canada.
They will start their quest against Congo Brazzaville on September 6; take on Canada two days after before winding up their group stage quest against hosts France on September 10.
Group A is made up of Cote d’Ivoire, Cape Verde, Democratic Republic of Congo and Niger, Group B has Gabon, Senegal, Haiti, and Lebanon; while Cameroon, Morocco, Burkina Faso and Chad will battle in Group C.
