Mputu leaves TP Mazembe
TP Mazembe star Tresor Mputu has left the Lubumbashi side for Angolan champions Kabuscorp and was presented to the national press in Luanda on Saturday.
The 28-year-old DR Congo international signed a one-year contract worth €2 million (R28m) and will earn €40,000 (R566,000) per month according to officials.
Mazembe’s supporters were against the move, prompting the Corbeaux management to release a statement during the weekend promising that his departure would not sap the form of the outfit.
Mputu spent more than a decade at Mazembe, contributing to the team’s 2009 and 2010 successes in the Caf Champions League as well as their historic qualification to the final of the Fifa Club World Cup lost to Inter Milan 3-0 in 2010.
Kabuscorp made the headlines in January 2012 when they signed former Brazil international Rivaldo, but the 2002 World Cup winner would spend just one season in Angola.
