Mukubya out of Rayon-AC Leopards clash
AC Leopards Dolisie vs. Rayon Sports
CENTRAL defender Jimmy Mukubya will not feature for Rayon Sports when they play away to Congo’s AC Leopards Dolisie in the first leg of the preliminary round of the Africa Champions League due on Sunday at Stade Denis Sassou Nguesso Dolisie.
The Rwandan champions play away to the Congolese this Sunday in the first leg fixture of the African championship on Sunday where the Rwandan giants target to get favorable results but will miss newly signed Mukubya who will be allowed to play by the Confederation of African Football [CAF] in the 1/8 round.
Rayon Sports club secretary general Olivier Gakwaya confirmed the development. He said, “He will not be allowed to play in these qualifying stages until we reach the 1/8th round. The reason is due to the fact that we didnt include him on the list of players who will play for us because by the time we signed, the list had already been forwarded to CAF,”
“We may feature him in continental matches if we qualify to the 1/8th round,” added Gakwaya.
Iddi Nshimiyimana and Arafat Serugendo stand as secondary replacements for Mukubya as one must combine with Hussein Sibomana to form a solid back line against an on-form striking force from AC Leopards Dolisie.
The blues who have been training twice a day will depart for Brazzaville on Thursday afternoon aboard RwandAir. They will make a 289km journey to Dolisie in Niari province from Brazzaville on the same day.
AC Leopards Dolisie has been in South Africa holding intensive preparations under the tutelage of Belgian coach Patrick Aussems.
The 2012 Confederation Cup and two national league title winners have signed three players; Nigerian winger Muhamane Cisse from AC Djoliba Bamako, central midfielder Romaric Lignanzi from FC Sapins de Libreville from Gabon and Moise Nkounkou from l’Etoile du Congo.
