Rwatubyaye returns to join U-20 camp
DEFENDER Abdul Rwatubyaye who disappeared from camp in France last year has returned back home and drafted into the Under 20 team which is preparing for the Africa Youth Championship qualifiers.
Rwatubyaye disappeared from the Junior Wasps camp following their maiden participation in the Francophone Games held in Nice, France last year.
The Ferwafa Secretary General Olivier Mulindahabi said in a news conference on Friday last week, “Rwatubyaye is expected in the country and will join Amavubi U20.
He was convinced to return back home which he did after realizing he had done a grave mistake of escaping on national duty last year,”
Rwatubyaye, Isonga FC player at that time, remained in the hotel when his teammates were out for a scheduled stroll and then quietly left the hotel.
No Rwandan player had disappeared during official missions abroad since 2006 when Jean de Dieu Uwimana, on duty with national volleyball, also went AWOL in France.
Back in 2005, right back Jean Remi Bitana also abandoned the senior Amavubi team in Germany.
