Super Cup shifted to Stade de Kigali
THE Inaugural Super Cup tournament which will pit Primus league winner and Peace Cup champion has been shifted to Stade de Kigali on September 1 according to Ferwafa.
Ferwafa secretariat confirmed yesterday that the match between Rayon Sport and AS Kigali has been shifted from Amahoro stadium to Stade de Kigali because the later will be host to a national thanksgiving program ‘Rwanda Shima Imana’ due on the same day.
The inaugural Super Cup has been sponsored to a tune of Rwf25m a Turkish construction company Babil Group of Companies (Babilaks Construction Limited).
The winner will walk away with Rwf5m and the runners-up will take home Rwf2m, while the rest of the money will go into organising the event.
According to the agreement, Babil group will take charge of advertising, branding, purchase of the trophy and medals while Ferwafa will offer the playing field, referees and ticket collection and distribution.
Meanwhile, AS Kigali will face Rayon Sport minus two of the head coaches (head coach Cassa Mbungo and goalkeeper’s coach Thomas Higiro) who are currently on duty with the Junior Wasps preparing for the Francophone Games in Nice, France.
However, assistant coach Jean de Dieu Mateso is confident his side can sink Rayon Sports even though the game will not be that easy.
