Simba win, Yanga and Azam held
Tanzania giants Simba Sports Club grabbed their second win of the campaign after a 2-0 victory over Mtibwa Sugar in a tough clash at the National Stadium in Dar es Salaam, as the Vodacom Premier League resumed this Saturday following the international week break.
Second half goals from Henry Joseph and Betram Mombeki in the 69th and 90th minute, ensured Abdallah Kibadeni’s side grab crucial 3 points as they move to second in the league standings.
Amos Mgisa scored a late winner for JKT Ruvu in the 82nd minute to grab a 1-0 victory over Ashanti United recording a three match unbeaten run to stay on top of the league with 9points.
At the Sokoine Stdium saw homeside and newly promoted side Mbeya City hold defending champions Yanga SC to a 1-1 draw.
Hosts Mbeya City opened the scoring in the 51st minute through Mwagane Yeya, before Yanga’s towering striker Didier Kavumbagu netting the equalizer in the 82nd minute.
Elsewhere, a first half goal from Kagera Sugar’s Temi Felix in the 24th minute and second half equalizer from Azam FC’s Khamis Mcha in the 61st saw the two side share spoils in a 1-1 draw at the Kaitaba Stadium.
