Galatasaray ‘appoint Mancini as manager’
Galatasaray have appointed former Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini as their new manager, according to reports from Turkey, following the dismissal of Fatih Terim over a contract dispute.
Mancini flew in to Istanbul on Sunday evening for final talks, with the official Galatasaray Twitter account released a photograph of the Italian sitting with President Unal Lufti Aribogan.
The club has yet to announce the move officially, but Gala TV reportedly claims that he has signed a three-year deal worth €5.5 million (£4.6 million) a season, which could rise to over €6m per season with bonuses.
Mancini’s first match in charge will be in his native Italy on Wednesday night as Galatasaray visit Juventus in the Champions League.
Among the players at his disposal in Turkey are Dutch playmaker Wesley Sneijder and former Chelsea striker Didier Drogba.
