Rayon Sports spent Rwf68M in transfer window
The Turbo King Football League defending champions Rayon Sports spent a total of Rwf68 million on signing new players ahead of the start of the 2013/14 season.
The development was confirmed on Friday by Rayon Sports Secretary general Olivier Gakwaya. He admitted that the money was spent only on signing new players and giving new contracts to their old players who had helped the club win their seventh league title.
In that money, striker Meddie Kagere took a hefty fee as the club splashed Rwf 9 million to get his signature from Police; defender Faustin Usengimana who has been ruled out of the season with a broken leg took Rwf7million while Djihad Bizimana who was signed from Etincelles was the least paid player at Rwf1.5 million.
According to Gakwaya, the source of the money was the club’s rich fan club and the annual sponsorship Nyanza district injected in the club.
Besides Usengimana, other players whose contracts were renewed include; goal keeper Bikorimana Gerard, defenders Nizigiyimana Kalim Makenzi, Abouba Sibomana, Iddi Nshyimiyimana, midfielders Ndayisenga Fwadi, Hategekimana Aphrodice Kanombe, Kamanzi Pappy and Uwambazimana Léon.
New players signed include goalie Ndayishimiye Jean Luc (APR), Kanamugire Moses (La jeunesse), Arafat Serugendo (Mukura), Rwaka Jean Claude (La Jeunesse), Bizimana Djihad (Etincelles), Ndatimana Robert (Isonga), Kagere Meddy (Police), Jakech Samson (Uganda/Express) and Halerimana Jean Paul (La Jeunesse).
