Okoko named Amagaju coach
COACH Godfroid Okoko has been appointed as the head coach of Amagaju with a contract that will take him through the remainder of the 2013/14 Turbo King Football League.
Okoko, who has been clubless after La Jeunesse pulled out of the top flight league, takes over from Abdu Mbarushimana who resigned after failure to garner any point in the first five matches of the season.
“My task is to ensure that Amagaju regains effectiveness such that they can rise from the relegation zone. I am yet to know the kind of the players the clubs has but I will do whatever it takes to raise its playing level,” added Okoko.
Known for his hard work and great resilience, Okoko transformed Mukura from a relegation-threatened club to a title contender when they were bottom in the league standings and guided them to second place in 2011/12 season.
As he joined La Jeunesse at the start of 2012/13 season, the Burundian-born coach helped the Nyamirambo-based side improve on their last campaign where they finished sixth.
Assistant coach Pablo Nduwimana earned the first point for Amagaju on Wednesday as the Nyamagabe-based club forced AS Muhanga to a 1-all draw in the sixth round of the Turbo King Football league.
Amagaju is placed at bottom of the standings with one point in six matches, having conceded 11 goals.
