Ssimbwa delighted with Police’s display
Peter Kagabo takes on Etincelles defender in Police’s 6-0 rout of Rubavu-based club
Coach Sam Ssimbwa has hailed the positive reaction and impact of his boys in the wake of the third victory of the Turbo King Football league season.
Ssimbwa was all smiles on Wednesday as the law enforcers enhanced their shooting boots against Etincelles at Stade de Kigali. Midfielder Imran Nshimiyimana scored a brace while Peter Kagabo, Jean d’amour Uwimana, Kipson Atuheire and Jacques Tuyisenge all scored as last year’s league runner-ups sent a strong statement to their rivals.
Halting unbeaten records of Rayon Sports and Etincelles, Ssimbwa’s side has started to grow in confidence following an indifferent start to the season with embarrassing draws against APR and newly promoted Gicumbi and a loss to Musanze.
“I feel happy with their performance, attitude and focus. The players have started to believe in themselves. They have put on balanced performances and having beaten two sides that had unbeaten records since the league started is something to be proud of,”
“Scoring such goals does not mean it was an easy game. We take all games to be the same and this kind of performance will instill confidence in the team as we seek to win all our matches in bid to end on a high,” added Ssimbwa.
Etincelles which was missing key players who were engaged in senior six national examinations suffered a humiliating loss due to mistakes exposed by the line of defense in which Police took advantage of.
It was a disappointing day for Coach Abdu Bizimana who endured his first defeat of the season after going unbeaten in the first five games.
The Rubavu-based side will seek to address the weaknesses in the squad for the next game against APR at Stade Umuganda on Sunday.
Police has moved to the fifth position behind last season champions Rayon Sport with eleven points and face leaders AS Kigali on Saturday at Kicukiro turf.
