Defending champions Rayon Sports headed to Congo with a strong 18-man squad to face Congo’s AC Leopards in the first leg of the preliminary round of Caf Champions League due on Sunday at Stade Denis Sassou Nguesso Dolisie.

The squad includes new face Alype Majyambere who received a surprise call after impressing the Belgian head coach Luc Eymael during this week’s training session following his defensive improvements which can seen him excel in aerial and physical contact.

Other players who made into the final 18-man team include impressive midfielder Robert Ndatimana and Leo Uwambajimana as well as Ugandan striker Jakech Samson who missed the second leg matches played so far.

Rayon Sports departed for Brazzaville yesterday with 25-man squad as well as 25 fans led by club president Theogene Ntampaka and secretary general Olivier Gakwaya.

Naming the squad, Eymael said, “We are heading to Congo with an optimistic mind. We believe we can get a positive result. We have rectified some of the minor errors displayed in the past matches,”

“We have studied our opponent very well and we hope to keep Rwanda’s flag high,” added the Belgian.
