It was to the pleasure of Rwandans that Nigeria was then suspended from Football by FIFA; however, a circumvented ban by the African Champions now places the Wasps of Rwanda in competition with the dreaded Nigeria in Group A for the 2015 African Nations Cup.

Coach of the side, Stephen Constantine has assured that the team is not afraid of Nigeria or any of the other two teams in the group as they look forward to a nation’s cup appearance since 2004.

“Facing the African champions will be great, but we shall prepare well for them and all the other teams we shall face in the group.”

Constantine replaced local coach Eric Nshimiyimana in May and has been at the helms for 2 months now, leading them to Saturday’s play-off victory over Congo Brazzaville in Kigali.

The 51 year-old former Sudan and Malawi coach, however, urged his boys to improve if they are to put up a good fight.

The Wasps of Rwanda won by penalties in the second leg in Kigali on Saturday after falling 2-0 in the first leg, they were 2-0 better than the visiting team, before winning 4-3 on penalties

“Even against Congo we should have won the game early instead of getting into penalties. We need to improve.”
