Rayon snubs Togolose Zico
AFRICAN CONFEDERATIONCup hopefuls Rayon Sports have snubbed Togolese SekleYao Zico after he failed to impress the Nyanza-based club in the just concluded CecafaKagame Cup.
Zico alongside Youssa Bertrand GovinMotombo and Ghanaian GueliKoffi featured for Rayon Sports in the regional club tournament on a trial basis.
After being knocked by rivals APR in the quarter finals, the club president TheogeneNtampaka went back to the drawing board to make an assessment of the new players as well as discussed on their plans for next season.
“We had a meeting with the technical committee and we found it wise to let Zico go because he is not on the standards of our club,”
“We are going to finalise the remaining issues regarding the transfer of the three players because they were appreciated by the technical staff and basing on how they featured in the regional tournament, they had an impressive display and will play a leading role in our club’s ambitions next season,” added Ntampaka on Friday.
The blues are also set to Uganda Cranes striker Brian Omony who is a loaned player at Uganda’s KCCA but they must cough $50,000(Rwf. 34.5m) to get the skillful forward who is contracted by Tanzanian giants Azam FC.
The blues who lost midfielder DjamalMwiseneza to rivals APR are struggling to build a strong team such that they can stage a fruitful performance next season which will even see Rayon Sports participating in the Orange Confederation Cup in January next year.
