Rayon Sport 2-2 APR

 

Rayon Sport wasted an opportunity to close the gap on leaders AS Kigali after being held to a 2-2 draw by rivals APR.

 

Defending champions APR came twice from behind to hold arch rivals Rayon Sport to a 2-all draw in a re-scheduled Primus National Football League fixture played on Sunday at Amahoro national stadium.

 

Both sides played an interesting game with the first half ending in a goalless draw. After recess, Rayon Sport snatched the opener when APR’s goalie Jean Claude Ndoli failed to hold firm a sharp shot from Fuadi Ndayisenga’s free kick on 49th minute.

 

Rayon Sport doubled the lead on 64th minute when Jerome Sina scored from another goal keeping blunder when Ndoli failed to hold firm Ndayisenga’s corner kick punching the ball in Sina’s direction and the on-form striker never made a mistake but to punish him with a superb finish.

 

With everyone expecting a major win for the blues against the defending champions, APR reorganized themselves with 15 minutes to the end of the game.

 

Striker Isaac Muganza snatched APR’s first goal on 77thn minute, benefitting Jean Claude Iranzi’s corner kick to shoot past goalie Marcel Nzarora.

 

Two minutes later, Iranzi snatched the equaliser from a long range shot outside the goal area to send Nzarora the wrong way.

 

The draw leaves APR on fourth position with 18 points and a superior goal difference over La Jeunesse while Rayon Sport remains on seventh position with 17 points.

 

AS Kigali finishes 2012 leading the Primus National Football league standings with 21 points in ten matches played this season while Etincelles lays bottom of the standings with five points.
