Simba lines up Tusker in Mapinduzi Cup
This year’s Mapinduzi Cup tournament is set to kick off on January 2 with Kenyan champions Tusker FC drawn against Tanzanian winners Simba.
Mapinduzi Cup is a tournament was created by the Zanzibar Football Federation to commemorate Zanzibar’s Revolution day which is on 12th January.
Among the invited teams were Egyptian giants Al Ahly as well as APR FC from Rwanda, but they were unable to participate.
Kagame Cup champions Yanga will also not be available for tournaments as they will be heading to Turkey to prepare for the Second round of the Vodacom Premier League.
Azam are current holders of the Mapinduzi cup, which will begin on 2nd to 12 January.
The winner gets $6400 (10mil Tshs) while the runners-up go away with $3200 (5mil Tshs).
Group A: Simba SC, Tusker FC, Bandari (Unguja) and Jamhuri (Pemba).
Group B: Azam FC, Mtibwa Sugar, Coastal Union, and Miembeni (Unguja).
