Rwanda football federation has requested their Ugandan counterparts to play a friendly match on February 6 as they seek to prepare the Amavubi Stars ahead of the 2014 World Cup qualifiers.
Amavubi team will resume their pursuit for the World Cup ticket on March 22 when they host Mali in Kigali at the 60, 000-seater stadium.
Rwanda Football Federation, Ferwafa officials confirmed on Wednesday that they have proposed to their Ugandan counterparts such that the can play the February 6 Fifa international friendly match in Kigali.
Uganda Football house Fufa’s Communication and Publicity officer Rogers Mulindwa said, “It is true we have talked and we are waiting for official communication from Rwanda,”
The proposal to play against Uganda ranked 81st comes at a time when Rwanda failed to meet expenses of three African countries Sierra Leone [62], Gabon [49] and Burundi [104].
Amavubi have played three international warm-ups since October last year, playing a goalless draw away to Namibia in Windhoek and another 2-all draw in Kigali and before falling to Angola 1-0 in Luanda in December.
