Six-time league champion Rayon Sport closed gap on league leaders Police FC with a vital win over AS Kigali in Muhanga on Wednesday.
Goals from Salita Kambale and Cedric Amissi were enough to give the blues side maximum points needed in as far as their quest for the title is concerned. Jimmy Mbaraga scored AS Kigali’s consolation goal.
The blues have now moved into second position with 29 points, three points behind leaders Police FC and one point ahead of defending champions APR.
APR FC also pulled out a 1-0 win over AS Muhanga courtesy of Tumaine Ntamuhanga as Kiyovu was forced to a goalless draw against Amagaju.
Mukura beat La Jeunesse 1-0 at Kamena while Musanze secured a 2-1 win away at Etincelles in Rubavu. Isonga played out a 2-all draw against Espoir at Kicukiro turf.
Police continues to lead the standings with 32 points in fifteen matches played but Isonga and Etincelles are still tied in the relegation zone with ten points each.
The Primus league resumes on February 9 with match day sixteen.
