Rwanda : Rayon’s resilience excites coach Gomes
Frenchman Didier Gomes da Rosa is a happy man after guiding Rayon Sport to second position of the Primus National Football League title.
Rayon Sport moved into second position with 29 points, three points behind leaders Police FC. They easily beat AS Kigali 2-1 last week with Salita Kambale and Cedric Amissi earning maximum points for the Nyanza based side.
Jimmy Mbaraga scored AS Kigali’s lone consolation goal to take his tally to nine goals scored this season.
Rayon Sport head coach Didier Gomes da Rosa said that he is happy with his team’s comeback and eagerness to win the title.
“We had so many goal scoring chances but the determination from players was very instrumental in attaining this result,”
We are now three points behind Police-I have seen them play and we will of course meet, so am confident we are in the right way, shape and mood to win the title,”
“We don’t want to lose any points at this stage if we are to stay in the right course to win the league title. We must win every game in the remaining fixtures such that we can lift the title,” added Gomes.
Police continues to lead the standings with 32 points in fifteen matches played but Isonga and Etincelles are still tied in the relegation zone with ten points each.
Elsewhere, defending champions APR FC also pulled out a 1-0 win over AS Muhanga courtesy of Tumaine Ntamuhanga as Kiyovu was forced to a goalless draw against Amagaju. The military side moved into third position with 28 points.
Mukura beat La Jeunesse 1-0 at Kamena while Musanze secured a 2-1 win away at Etincelles in Rubavu. Isonga played out a 2-all draw against Espoir at Kicukiro turf.
