Second division side Pepiniere are disappointed with the decision taken by Rwanda football house to eliminate them from the on-going Peace Cup edition even after they beat La Jeunesse in the preliminary round.

Pepiniere beat La Jeunesse 4-2 on penalties after normal time had ended goalless.

However, in a twist of events, they found themselves caught on the wrong side of the coin as Ferwafa teams to play in the round of 16.

Muhanga, Pipinierre and Musanze all qualified from the preliminary round on penalties after all drawing 0 – 0, yet only two had to progress, leaving the unfortunate one to lick their wounds.

The Ferwafa official in charge of competitions Boniface Nsabimana said that they considered how the three teams performed statistically and, after finding that they all had similar stats, it was left on their standings in the league to determine who exits, and it was Pepiniere.

According to Ferwafa rules governing the Peace Cup, article 5 says that if the teams drew, Ferwafa would give a chance to the team with the best attack and in case that fails, their league positions come into play.

Muhanga and Musanze eliminated top flight division rivals Police FC and SC Kiyovu 4-2 on penalties but, because they sit in higher positions in the league, it was Pepiniere, who are struggling in Pool B in the second division that paid the price.

Coach Jean Marie Munyenkumburwa blasted Ferwafa’s decision to eliminate them which he even branded as being biased.

“It is understandable and Ferwafa should straighten up their rules or else what they are doing is not fair at all.

“I well know that even if we appeal, we can be given any solace to advance to the next level. We are hurt but we will continue with our second division matches,” added Munyenkumburwa.
