Six-time giants Rayon Sport retained their one-point lead at the top of the Primus League standings as they registered their biggest winning scoreline this season after annihilating giants APR 4-0 at Amahoro stadium on Saturday.

With their suspended and injured senior players Jean Claude Iranzi, Michel Rusheshangoga and Emery Bayisenge watching from the stands, Rayon Sport gave some football tips to their arch rivals.

Papy Kamanzi grabbed a brace while skipper Aphrodis Hategikimana and Cedric Amissi netted the other two goals in a game which attracted 25,000 crowd to full capacity.

Both sides had a 50-50 first half with both sides launching a series of attack. The military side dominated the midfield, benefitting from counterattacks before suffering injury setbacks on central defender Heritier Turatsinze and striker Barnabe Mubumbyi as both teams went into recess.

The blues returned back recharged in the second half and caused all sorts of problems for coach Eric Nshimiyimana’s youthful squad which struggled to contain them but failed.

Hategikimana struck a brilliant volley as Ismail Nshutiyamagara looked on adamantly, failing to clear a free pass from Fuadi Ndayisenga on 4th minutes.

Burundian Amissi scored Rayon Sport’s goal from a counterattack following Jean Baptista Mugiraneza’s failure to control a slim ball in the midfield, giving a chance to Djamal Mwieneza who connected for the Burundian and scored past Jean Claude Ndoli on 57th minute.

Mwiseneza who had a fine game then connected another set piece to Kamanzi and the latter made no mistake, leaving Nshutiyamagara crawling to score the third goal for Rayon Sport on 63rd minute.

The Congolese-born-neutralised Rwandan then scored one of the spectacular goals after  a well calculated set-piece which passed through Hategikimana, Mwiseneza and Amissi to complete his double on 72nd minute.

APR tried to search for a consolation but it was too late but Hegman Ngoma and Mugiraneza were the main culprits as they failed to convert three clear chances in front of the goal.

The blues have this season enjoyed some of the biggest scorelines this campaign, including a 4-0 victory over Marines last month.

Rayon Sport maintain their lead at the standings with 41 points and are on the verge of winning the Primus League title under French coach Didier Gomes da Rosa since 2005.

The last time APR suffered a defeat of this margin was in 2001 when Rayon Sport beat the military side 4-1 at Amahoro stadium. Since then, APR has been a dominant figure in Rwandan football.

Police kept their pressure on Rayon Sport and registered a 2-1 win over relegation struggling side Isonga at Kicukiro turf. Fabrice Twagizimana and Moussa Hakizimana scored goals for Police.

Mukura beat SC Kiyovu 2-0 in Kamana while Etincelles won the Western Province derby with a 2-1 victory over neighbours Marines at Umuganda stadium.
