Rwanda vs. Mali, Sunday
AMAVUBI Edwin Ouon is an exhilarated man after he was summoned to feature for Amavubi in this weekend’s 2014 Wold Cup qualifier against Mali.
Ouon last featured for Amavubi in 2009 during the 2010 World Cup qualifiers. He played in the 1-3 loss to Algeria in October 11, 2009 away in Blida and in the 0-1 loss to
Egypt in Kigali on May 5, 2009, all in the third round qualification matches.
The AEL Limassol defender who featured in the Uefa Europa League last year said mid this week, “It was a pleasure for me when I was contacted by the coach that I would play for Rwanda again. I know I have been given a task and there is no doubt that I will play against Mali on Sunday with a committed mind,”
“I am going to do my best because this is an important thing for me and my country Rwanda. The world cup qualifier s a high competition and it will be a honour for me to don the national team jersey and hope to my best to help Amavubi win on Sunday,” added Ouon.
Rwanda, who have never made it on the global stage and are yet to make Afcon since 1994, face Mali on Sunday looking to stay their improbable chances of making Brazil 2014.
Rwanda is bottom with one point making this month’s qualifier against Mali so crucial to the bedraggled Amavubi.
Benin leads the group with four points, one above second placed Mali and Algeria.
