REIGNING LEAGUE champions APR Fc have appointed Serbian coach Ljubomir “Ljupko” Petrović as the new head coach according to club management.

 The club chairman Maj. Gen. Jack Musemakweli said on Sunday that Petrovic is the club’s new head coach and has been offered a one-year renewable contract.

 “We have a new head coach who will work with the technical committee to help the club realize its dream. In his one-year reign, he has been tasked to help the club reach at least the group stage of next year’s Africa Champions League,”

 “On top of that he is also assigned to help the club retain both the national football league and Peace Cup titles,” added Musemakweli.

 Petrovic who will be making his coaching debut in Africa will not be in charge of the upcoming Cecafa Kagame Cup but will offer technical assistance to the team which will be manned by assistant coach Vincent Mashami.

 A former Yugoslavian football player and a football manager today, Petrovic is an icon in the Yugoslavian (today Serbia) and European football history.

 As a manager, he has led well known teams from former Yugoslavia such as: NK Osijek Osijek, FK Spartak Subotica, FK Rad Belgrade, FK Vojvodina Novi Sad, and finally with Red Star Belgrade, whom he won the 1991 European Cup.

 He has also managed throughout Europe and elsewhere with Spanish league team RCD Espanyol, Uruguayan team C.A. Penarol, Austrian team Grazer AK and Chinese teams Shanghai Shenhua and Beijing Guoan.

 Petrovic holds a UEFA PRO License, PHD degree in physical education and UEFA coaching license instructor.
