Ibrahimovic sent off as PSG win at Valencia

Paris Saint-Germain’s Argentine player Ezequiel Lavezzi (R) gestures as he is embraced by teammate Zlatan Ibrahimovic after scoring

Paris Saint-Germain earned a valuable 2-1 win at Valencia in the first leg of their Champions League last-16 tie, but had Zlatan Ibrahimovic dismissed late on.

The home side looked fluid throughout as they dominated possession, but were sucker-punched twice in the first half by Ezequiel Lavezzi and Javier Pastore.

As Valencia struggled to find a way back into the match, Carlo Ancelotti’s men looked to have the two-legged tie virtually wrapped up at the halfway stage.

But a last-minute Adil Rami goal halved the deficit before Ibrahimovic went in studs first on Andres Guardado in time added on for a straight red from Italian official Paolo Tagliavento.

The late turn of events means PSG will be without the Sweden international and Marco Verratti, who picked up another booking in the first half, when they try to defend or extend their one-goal lead at the Parc des Princes for the second leg.
